CANELLI and UNESCO
Canelli with its "underground cathedrals" sinks for several floors into the bowels of the rolling hills, which are also witnesses of a winemaking history of the territory and, by extension, of the nation itself, conquering the main international markets over the centuries with its wines.

A certain news, given by a census of the early twentieth century, reports the existence in Canelli of the activity of as many as fifty bottling companies, all equipped with underground rooms essential for the processing of vermouth and sparkling wines now incorporated into the urban fabric or abandoned.
Currently there are four cellars that can be visited as architectural heritage with an extension of several kilometers, wrapped in semi-darkness, characterized by large barrel vaults, in an almost sacred atmosphere that inspires silence and respect for the hidden memory of a time rich in scientific discoveries related to the world of wine that have influenced an entire territory.
The historic cellars, dug between the 17th and 20th centuries, thanks to the specific construction skills are suitable for providing the same environmental conditions that are acquired elsewhere with expensive technology systems.
Canelli boasts the white Moscato vine from which the precious varieties called DOCG Asti and Moscato d'Asti are obtained with an area of almost 10,000 hectares distributed in 52 neighboring municipalities.
